Chapter 22 Summary: Stubs on Transmission Lines Stubs off the main line of a signal path can cause waveform reversals. This chapter investigates what happens when a sine wave of frequency is introduced into an unterminated transmission line at a quarter wavelength, and discusses the need to determine the frequency content of all the switching edges traveling on the transmission line to guarantee that stubs don’t adversely affect the switching edges. Readers will learn why approximate calculations will work when determining first-order harmonics, but more precise calculations require use of a Fourier Transform
